For Organisations

Our objectives

Kesho is the Swahili word for “Tomorrow”, meaning that Kesho Connect will support Youth towards a better future by connecting them to opportunities.

Connection

Act as an access point for youth to be matched with education, training, internship, potential scholarships and job opportunities.

Capacity Building

Through cooperation with other organisations, support youth with relevant life, business, and employability skills.

Partnership Development

Build structured collaboration with universities, vocational training institutes, NGOs, and private sector employers.

Sustainability

Create lasting partnerships where companies, NGOs, and institutions actively commit to internships, scholarships, or jobs for youth.

The key objectives are to connect youth to various opportunities

Educational Institutions

Kesho Connect will provide students with information regarding available training opportunities, such as colleges, vocational training, and universities. Information will also be provided about potential scholarship programs offered by educational institutions, ensuring students can access financial support for their education.

Self-employment

Kesho Connect can support students who wish to start their own business by providing assistance with business planning, budgeting, and potentially helping them secure a startup loan.

NGOs

Kesho Connect establishes partnerships with NGOs that can potentially support students with (partial) scholarships or specific training programs tailored to support youth in Kibera to access future opportunities.

Training Institutes

The project may offer specific training programs focused on business and life skills. For this we also seek partnership with already existing programs. This will help prepare students for working in a professional environment. Interview training may also be part of the program. Specifically for this purpose we are currently working together with the NGO Edukans to see if we can jointly bridge the gap between youth in Kibera and employment at commercial organisations in various industries.

Companies

The project builds connections with companies in Kenya willing to support the program. This may include offering internships that could lead to employment, potential permanent jobs, providing in-house training, and offering financial support for further education through (part-time) scholarships.

IT Education

A significant component of the program is providing IT education to secondary school students and the broader community. The computer lab at the ALLSAFE school supported by our foundation will be utilized for this purpose. In addition to teaching our own students, these classes can be offered to a wider group of students during evenings, weekends, and school holidays. Collaboration with other organizations and the possibility of creating additional IT hubs are also being explored.

Location and Execution

All aforementioned activities are centrally coordinated from a dedicated centre in Kibera. Volunteers and staff members work here to support students and connect them with the appropriate parties, such as educational institutions, NGOs, companies, and training institutes. Kesho Connect will serve as the connecting factor for students raised in Kibera, helping them access the right resources for further education and employment.
